Innovative, soulful, spiritual and eclectic all describe the
musical productions of Psychostasia Recordings. This independent
and Detroit-based record label embraces many forms of musical
expressions: deep house, drum and bass, funk, soul, hip hop, and
Detroit-style techno. Psychostasia Recordings does not concern
itself with one particular genre of music. Categorizing and
defining this music, can only hinder creative expression from a
label that connects with a global or world approach to its
music. If the music we create touches our spirit, and ultimately
brings postive vibrations to our soul, then we put it out into
the universe for others to appreciate and experience. |

Reggie Dokes began his love affair with electronic music when
he was in the ninth grade. Being intensely influenced by local
legendary DJs like Ken Collier and experiences at Detroit's
Music Institute, Reggie began playing at basement and backyard
parties at the age of 15. With the assistance of Cybersoul T.G.E,
a promotional group, Reggie was given the opportunity to share
his eclectic musical vision with masses of people. He landed a
guest residency at one of Canada's top house clubs, The
Amsterdam. During this residency, Reggie met and befriended
legendary electronic music producer Derrick May. Subsequently,
May took Reggie under his wing and began to mentor him as a DJ.
As a result of this relationship, Reggie became the resident DJ
for Derrick May's label "Transmat". This illustrious position
gave Reggie even more exposure to worldwide audiences as he
played parties around the world with other DJs and producers
such as Ron Trent, Kevin Saunderson, Theo Parrish, and Kevin
Yost. In keeping with Reggie's love for music, he eventually
turned his sights to producing. He began his own imprint,
Psychostasia Recordings, which has received worldwide acclaim
for its visionary and eclectic sound. Even with one full length
album and eight releases to his credit, he has managed to record
for other labels: Transmat Records; Time and Space 2
Compilation, the Movement Festival compilation (the official CD
of the Detroit Electronic Festival) and Forward Thought Music,
newly formed by electronic artist Louis Harman. Reggie has done
remixes that have been released on Third Ear Recordings, a UK
based label. More recently, Reggie has partnered with fellow
Detroit producer and DJ Pirahnahead to produce and record under
the name "Napi Hedz". With a remix project that is getting
exceptional reviews and several other greatly anticipated
releases to follow, "Napi Hedz" are proving themselves worthy of
all successes they are certain to encounter. Reggie's vision, as
both a DJ and producer insures that there are nothing but bigger
and better things to come in his future. |
